VIP reception · Clark Builders 1000 Women Gala

This oneis personal.

Our family's connection to the Clark Builders 1000 Women Gala.

Cash, moving up day. August 2025.

On September 24, Token Mocktails helped serve the VIP reception at the Clark Builders 1000 Women Gala.

For our family, being part of that evening meant more than sponsoring an event. Our two sons, Cash and Roman, have both been part of the child care community the gala helps support.

Our story, in about two minutes

Two boys.

One child care centre.

A thousand women behind it.

Our connection to this community

Like many parents, some of the places that end up mattering most to your family are the ones that quietly become part of everyday life.

For ours, one of those places is the Intercultural Child and Family Centre, the child care centre in downtown Edmonton that the 1000 Women Movement helped build.

Both of our boys have spent their days there. So we have seen for ourselves what a place like this does for children, for parents and for families.

That made saying yes to the gala an easy decision.

Two small moments, from Bobby

Cash

“Upstairs, where all the big grown-ups are.”

One day on the way home, Cash could not stop talking about the library. His class had gone upstairs, he told me, where all the big grown-ups are. There were more books than he knew what to do with, and he got to check one out himself and carry it back down to his classroom.

To him it was the best day. To me it was a small window into what his days there were really like.

Roman

He ran the whole way over.

Roman's came at pickup. The little ones were out for a ride in the big indoor strollers, and he was happy just to be along for it. Then he spotted me, on a day he was not expecting me.

They lifted him out and he came running straight over for a hug. A surprise for both of us, and one I still think about.

And all the ordinary days in between

Growing up at the centre

Most of what the centre gave our boys never made it into a story. It looked like this.

02 · Contribution

So why mocktails?

Token Mocktails is one of the businesses our family is building here in Alberta.

When the chance came to support the VIP reception, contributing through something we already make felt like the natural way to take part.

So instead of simply placing a logo in the room, we wanted our contribution to be something guests could actually hold in their hand.

We were grateful for the chance to support a community that has already played a meaningful part in our family's story.
