Privacy policy

Last updated 14 August 2026.

This policy explains what personal information Token Bitters Ltd. collects, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

What we collect

When you buy from us, we collect what we need to complete the sale and get it to you: your name, email address, delivery address, billing address and phone number.

When you browse the store, we automatically receive your IP address, browser and device information, and how you moved through the site.

If you contact us, we keep the message and our reply so we have the history if you write again.

If you open a wholesale account, we also collect your business name, business address and the details needed to assess credit terms.

We never see your full payment card number. Card details go directly to our payment processor and are not stored on our systems.

Why we collect it

  • To process, pack, deliver and invoice your order
  • To contact you about an order, including delays and delivery
  • To handle refunds, replacements and support requests
  • To meet our legal, tax and container-deposit reporting obligations
  • To send marketing email, but only if you have opted in

Consent, and how to withdraw it

When you give us information to complete a purchase, we take that as consent to use it for that purchase. For anything secondary, such as marketing, we ask separately and you can decline.

You can withdraw consent at any time. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can email sales@tokenbitters.com to opt out of any other use. Withdrawing consent does not affect information we are required by law to retain, such as sales records.

Your rights

You may ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, or delete it where we are not legally required to keep it. Email sales@tokenbitters.com with the subject line "Privacy request". We respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers who make the store work, and only to the extent they need it:

  • Shopify hosts our store and processes orders
  • Payment processors handle card transactions under PCI-DSS
  • Couriers and freight carriers receive the name, address and phone number needed to deliver
  • Our email platform stores subscriber addresses if you opted in

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade mailing lists.

We may disclose personal information where the law requires it.

Where your information is stored

Some of our service providers store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States. Where that happens, your information is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts and law enforcement.

How long we keep it

Order and transaction records are kept for seven years to meet Canadian tax requirements. Marketing subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Support correspondence is kept for two years.

Cookies

Our store uses cookies to keep your cart, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is used. You can refuse non-essential cookies through the banner shown on your first visit, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time. Blocking essential cookies will stop the cart and checkout from working.

Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect personal information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Age

Our store is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province of residence. Cocktail bitters contain alcohol and are sold only to customers of legal drinking age.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a material change, we will say so on this page.

If our business is sold or merged, personal information may transfer to the new owner so that your orders can continue to be fulfilled.
